Dear John is a three part book that starts out with 23 year-old John Tyree, an army enlistee.

John is the main character who as a little kid struggled with finding the proper balance between his father & himself. While on leave from the Army, he meets Savannah. A beautiful young woman who attends UNC Chapel Hill in North Carolina and is in Wilmington, NC doing charitable work for the Habitat for Humanity organization.
